he Zaccai Curtis Orkestra is an evolution in the Latin jazz big band tradition. Led by pianist Zaccai Curtis (widely recognized as one half of the popular Curtis Brothers band), the Orkestra is a 12-piece ensemble that expands upon Curtis’ open concepts in Latin jazz with new original compositions and arrangements. Following the footsteps of his mentor Eddie Palmieri, Curtis incorporates a strong mambo-style rhythm section with the dense, lively sound of a classic big band. By honoring the blues harmonies and swing rhythms of the African-Caribbean-New Orleans music lineage within his own genre-bending music, Curtis has earned fans from multiple musical backgrounds and interests.
