Zaccai Curtis – CUBOP!
017 Chamber Music America: “New Jazz Works” grant recipient, Zaccai Curtis is a composer and pianist evolving African-Caribbean-New Orleans norms in rapid motion. Curtis brings along his Quartet, which expands upon the CUBOP era, with a mix of new compositions and classics from Dizzy Gillespie, Kenny Dorham to Machito. Exploring these classic Afro-Cuban jazz concepts this quartet brings a new sound through their arrangements and vision of where this music should go. Featuring bassist Luques Curtis, timbales player Willie Martinez, and conga players Camilo Molina and Reinaldo De Jesus.
